Herman Cain: Gary Hart revisited

When Herman Cain‘s accusers came forth with sexual harassment allegations, I stay out of the fray.  Limbaugh, Hannity and other conservative talk people were quick to rush to his defense.  They likened his situation to Justice Clarence Thomas when Anita Hill had made similar accusations.  However, there was only one accuser in that situation- Hill- and considering she kept working for Thomas even after the time she said the harassment occurred, she looked like a phony.  Cain has more than one accuser for the harassment allegations (at least 4) and now he has a long-term extra-marital affair to add to the mix.

In 1984, a newcomer to the political stage emerged to take on the old establishment for the democratic nomination.  Gary Hart, like Herman Cain, had a meteoric rise to the top of the polls taking on Walter Mondale.  He had fresh ideas, was young and looked like the new poster child for democrats.  He gave Mondale and established Washington hardcore politician a run for his money.  However, in 1984, he didn’t have the money he needed to unseat the traditional candidate and Mondale went on to face Ronald Reagan for the Presidency.

Then came 1988 and all eyes were on Gary Hart.  As he made his announcement in 1987, the democrats were thrilled with the prospect of putting a new face with new ideas up against the established V.P., George H.W. Bush.  However, cracks began to show in the Hart facade almost immediately.  Quiet rumors began to stir of an extra marital affair sending reporters out in droves to get the scoop.  Back then, the mainstream media wasn’t controlled by the liberals, they actually reported things on both sides of the aisle.

Hart flatly denied the allegations and challenged the media to “follow him around” and see how boring his life was.  So, they did and they also did some snooping and out popped Donna Rice.  Hart and his wife denied that there was an affair and that this was a big misunderstanding designed to hurt his campaign.  Then the picture came out.  It showed Rice sitting on Hart’s lap holding his hand while he was wearing a shirt that had his yacht’s name, Monkey Business, on it.  His polls dropped in half overnight.  Hart got defensive and stayed in the campaign for a bit longer until the New Hampshire primary where he got SMASHED.  He withdrew the next day.

Cain flatly denies this allegation as well.  Of course he does!!  Should he come out and admit he has had this long affair, the nomination is lost and frankly his marriage may be lost as well.  He has nothing to lose by denying but everything to lose by confirming.  My common sense meter says where there is this much smoke there’s fire!!  By the same token,  I have no doubt that someone unleashed the hounds to find this information, these women just didn’t decide to clear their conscious by coming forward.  Whatever deals were made, we will more than likely never know.  Additionally, we most likely won’t ever know who set the hounds free as both republicans and democrats have a stake in his downfall.

At this moment, Cain told his campaign that he is re-assessing things.  He wants to wait to see how the polls come out before he makes his decision.  I have news for you Mr. Cain, your campaign is finished.

Who’s Lazy Mr. President?!

The United States has one of the highest corporate tax rates on the planet.  At the same time, Obama punted the decision on the XL Keystone Pipeline until AFTER the next election, killing 20,000 jobs.  The banks, which are full of money are refusing to give out loans to small businesses and entrepreneurs and somehow that translate into Americans being lazy!!!  Outrageous!

It was September of this year, you may recall, when he said that Americans were soft.  I wonder which golf course he was playing when that little gem entered his mind.  This from a man, who spends all kinds of time in Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii, New York City, and traveling Europe in “much-needed vacations.”  When he does come up with an idea, it always involves billions of dollars paid by those same people he just called lazy.

Well Mr. President, if we were so lazy how is it you have the money to do the traveling?  Additionally, who paid for that TARP bailout which has been an absolute failure.  I’m curious who you think paid for the Solyndra debacle.

For every finger you point at the American people, there are 3 more pointing back at you.  You have effectively cut off our legs at the knees and then wonder why we can’t walk.  Over regulation of businesses to the point they are choking and closing has chased jobs overseas.  Moratoriums on drilling in the gulf of Mexico for oil has driven businesses to the coast off of Africa.  Allowing the EPA to choose a smelt fish over the agricultural industry has left California with high unemployment, closing farms and higher grocery prices.  But, I guess since the taxpayers pay for your groceries there at the White House, it means nothing to you.  Furthermore, who pays for the celebrity chefs that you fly into the White House, like Paula Deen?  Those unions that you love so much with their lavish pensions and shameless salaries have rendered us non-competitive with China and India.   When you had to have a very special motorcade car built from scratch, we covered the cost.  All the gas that gets pumped into that monster is paid by us as is the jet fuel for Air Force One so you can travel around places you have lived instead of being at home working.

We also pick up the tab for all the beer you drink trying to convince us that you are just a “regular guy.”  All these golf-course solutions of yours have been nothing but smoke and mirrors.  You are the biggest pathological narcissist that has ever held the office and are so caught up in your self-love you have missed the slow burn anger of the American people.  You are also so caught up in your self-importance to realize that you have alienated yourself from all but the most extremes of your party.  When it comes to insults Mr. President, Americans have long memories.

Keep fiddling Sir, as Rome burns.  Nero may have survived the fire, but he couldn’t survive the fire and the oppression of the Christians combined with the class warfare he began.  A revolution took place among the people and they rose up against him.  Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.

To The Veterans: Thank You

On the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th hour in 1918, the Germans signed the Armistice, effectively ending World War I.  One year later, President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11th a Federal Holiday to remember those who have served.

“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations.”

President Wilson was also very sensitive to the psychological toll that those lean years of war had taken on the soldiers.  He stated, “Hunger, breeds madness.”  So to show his appreciation to the veterans who had served, he invited 2,000 soldiers to the White House and helped his chefs cook up a massive ravioli dinner.  He knew the returning soldiers would be longing for home cooked meals and at that time in our nation’s history, ravioli was a mainstay in American diets thanks to commercial canning.

On a personal note, I come from a long line of military veterans.  My grandfather served in World War I, my father served in Korea and Vietnam, and my brother served in Vietnam.  Additionally, many uncles, cousins and in-laws  have also served our country.  I am extremely proud and eternally grateful for their sacrifices and their bravery.  Currently, the children of those relatives are now serving in today’s military.  It is a very proud tradition for our family.

It pains me to see the defense budget being cut.  I realize that the Obama administration is scaling back in Iraq, but they are pledging support and troops to Uganda.  Our military is what stands between us and the opposition, in this case the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.  While Obama tells us that Americans have war fatigue he fails to recognize that the Islamic radicals DO NOT.  They are just as eager to wipe out our society as they have been.  They also have immense patience.  So, the Defense Department can look forward to a substantial cut of $450 BILLION or more while the Islamic terrorists jump for joy.  Not to mention that with those cuts, we can expect our unemployment rolls to jump by 1 million in the next 5 years.  It seems a bit counter-intuitive to speak about your commitment to creating  jobs while putting people out of work.

By the same token, it also seems counter-intuitive to send military fighting men and women into battle while tying their hands in terms of engaging with the enemy.  Obama has asked our troops to adhere to some arbitrary rules of engagement while our enemy has no rules.  Nothing is off-limits to the extremists.  Killing innocent men, women and children mean nothing to these people.  The scariest person in the world is the one who is more than willing to die for the cause.  If a person has absolutely nothing to fear because they have nothing to lose, it behooves the strategist to grant their wish because nothing short of death will stop them in their quest.  And if death means nothing to the combatant, then you can be assured it means nothing to them if someone else dies regardless if it is a civilian.  This administration fails to understand what it would take to win the war.  Nothing short of obliteration will be a victory.

May God bless our troops and their families without whom I could never write this piece.

There is Work to be Done so Obama bails to Asia

Seems to me that each and every time there are critical issues up for debate, Obama goes on vacation or heads overseas.  As past is prelude, the budget battle has long last come to debate and he is off to Asia.  He will make a stop in Hawaii (naturally), head to Australia (where he can commiserate with their exceptionally unpopular, leftist, Prime Minister Gillard), and then move on to Indonesia.  I suppose we could call this “Obama’s visiting home” tour.

The official White House statement is that he is headed out to highlight U.S.-Asian economic ties and the long-standing U.S. role in the region’s security.  How convenient that it coincides with the Congressional deadline on the budget.  Once again, the threats of government shutdown and credit rating downgrades loom overhead.  The American people will finally see if this 12 person “super committee” found the 1.2 trillion that needs to be cut.  Call me jaded, but I will be shocked if there is consensus and negotiations go smoothly.  Admittedly gridlock has been good for the country in that without it, we would be on the line for another huge stimulus package, the “pass this if you love me” jobs bill.

I recognize that traveling overseas is a very important part of being a President and that there is an agenda that he will be fulfilling.  However, in reality, there is nothing more important than what is happening here at home.  Our country is at a total standstill and Americans are fed up with politics as usual.  Clearly the administration has nothing new to bring to the table insofar as creating jobs is concerned.  They are so far out of their depths and watching amateur hour is nauseating.

About the only thing that Obama does well is campaign and spend the taxpayers money.  And the last 3 weeks or so he has been in his zone.  Traveling around the country in contrived sadness for our plight has barely concealed his campaigning.  And now we can pony up the taxpayer money for him to go home to Hawaii and Indonesia with a quick stop in Oz where he and Gillard can open up some Fosters and compare their sinking poll numbers.

Lyndon Johnson at least had the courage and class to admit he was in over his head when he decided not to run for re-election.

American Muslim Confusion: Perfect Example

So after my last post, I got a track back to another blog page that was Pro-Islam.  The author wanted to try to clear up the confusion so they posted the mission statement of the Fiqh Council of North America.  Let me give you that statement:

….the true and authentic teachings of Islam promote the sanctity of human life, dignity of all humans, and respect of human, civil and political rights. Islamic teachings uphold religious freedom and adherence to the same universal moral values which are accepted by the majority of people of all backgrounds and upon which the US Constitution was established and according to which the Bill of Rights was enunciated.

……we the members of FCNA (Fiqh Council of North America) believe that it is false and misleading to suggest that there is a contradiction between being faithful Muslims committed to God (Allah) and being loyal American citizens. Islamic teachings require respect of the laws of the land where Muslims live as minorities, including the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, so long as there is no conflict with Muslims’ obligation for obedience to God. We do not see any such conflict with the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. The primacy of obedience to God is a commonly held position of many practicing Jews and Christians as well.

We believe further that as citizens of a free and democratic society, we have the same obligations and rights of all US citizens. We believe that right of dissent can only be exercised in a peaceful and lawful manner to advance the short and long term interests of our country.

The Fiqh Council of North America calls on all Muslim Americans and American citizens at large to engage in objective, peaceful and respectful dialogue at all levels and spheres of common social concerns. We call upon all Muslim Americans to be involved in solving pressing social problems, such as the challenge of poverty, discrimination, violence, health care and environmental protection. It is fully compatible with Islam for Muslims to integrate positively in the society of which they are equal citizens, without losing their identity as Muslims (just as Jews and Christians do not lose their religious identity in doing the same).

My first thought after reading it a few times was, if that is your essential beliefs then why are you taking on the Catholics and forcing your religion on them.  If the answer is, “WE are not taking on the Catholics, those are different Muslims” then you have proven my point.  This is why non-Muslim Americans are so confused.

And to further my point, a Kent State University professor shouted “Death to Israel” during a lecture by a former Israeli diplomat.  Israeli Ismael Khaldi is a former deputy counsel general for the Israeli consulate in San Francisco.  Kent State University professor Julio Pino is a Cuban-American who converted to Islam.  Pino still retains his job at the University though I wonder if an Israeli professor said something about Death to Islam, if he would still have a job.

Regardless, this is hate speech pure and simple.  And the professor has a history of making vitriolic statements when he eulogized an 18-year-old Palestinian homicide bomber in the student-run newspaper, the Daily Kent.  Pino clearly didn’t get the memo about living in America in a peaceful and civilized manner.  Or perhaps he is reading a different Koran or using a different interpretation.  What I can tell you is this,  Baptists do not go around shouting “death to Methodists.”  Catholics don’t go to lectures and say “death to Pentecostals” in fact, in Catholicism there is a consistency that echos through parishes.  You can attend St. Joseph’s in California and St. Mary’s in New York and it will feel exactly the same.

That’s the problem and fear with Islam.  There is no consistency among the members.  One branch is ultra-radicalized and using homicide bombers, one branch is radicalized and can be provoked to violence (Major Nidal Hassan), another branch are the peaceful, living side by side people who would never engaged in violence but file lawsuits for special privileges (Catholic University) and the final branch are the ones who are quietly living their lives trying to get along, make money and raise families.

This is the struggle of the non-Muslim Americans.  We want to trust, we want to believe in peaceful co-existence and we want to get to know you.  But, every time we get close, a bomb goes off somewhere or a professor we trusted makes hates speech, or worse yet we get bullied by a bogus lawsuit to force our acceptance.  Unless and until there is consistency among the different groups, there will be fear.

American Muslims: Why Americans are Confused

Freedom of Religion in this country means we do not have a nationalized religion that we subscribe to.  Americans are very tolerant of all faiths.  Indeed we have the Signs Followers of West Virginia, thousands of other Christian variations, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and the occasional outer space alien followers.  The beauty of it is practiced all around the nation in various places specifically set aside for those religious denominations.  This also includes Islam.  There are mosques throughout the country and no law banning your clothing as they have in France.  So, tell me then, why you would attend a Roman Catholic University and be offended at their Religious Symbolism.  I know that Muslims believe in Jesus and recognize that he was crucified, so why does the cross offend you?  In other words, what gives you the right to dictate to another religion what they can and can not do in their own house.

How about this.  There is a Muslim school in Virginia called the Islamic Saudi Academy.  What if I send my child to your school and then complain that he is learning about the Koran.  And then I tell the Principle or Head Master that I want a chapel so that my child can attend Mass and take Communion everyday.  Pretty silly isn’t it?  The same holds true for the Catholic University.  Freedom of Religion ends were my nose begins.  There are plenty of schools all across this nation that have Muslim Student Associations and they have places of worship on campus to honor the five times a day prayers.  So, why are you shaking the tree of a PRIVATE SCHOOL with a radically different denomination than yours?  Why must they give you special privileges when it is YOUR CHOICE to go to a CATHOLIC SCHOOL?

This is certainly a case of shoving your religion down our throats.  And this is when we get upset.  We have dealt with the shooting at Ft. Hood, the shooting at the Little Rock recruiters office, Anwar Al-Awlaki and other American Muslims who somehow became radicalized and began murdering people.  We also have to listen to Louis Farrakhan tell us that there will be a blowback over Kaddhfi’s death.  Yet, you all wonder why we are nervous around you.  Isn’t it obvious, these people are Americans too who are killing us and wishing us death in the name of Islam.  Juan Williams, a journalist, was fired from NPR for speaking the truth:

“I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they’re identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

I think overall most Americans understand that.  Who would have thought a Major in the United States Army would become radicalized and murder other servicemen.  Who would expect a child to grow up here in this country and become one of the biggest Al-Qaeda terrorists?  And then, I think the greatest insult of all was building a Mosque at Ground Zero coupled with the burning of the American Flag at the US Embassy in London.  That sure wasn’t very sensitive.  Once again, we are being bullied to accept your religion.  We are not bullies in this country and we resent those that are.  We get especially upset when we are told that those that are in this country are just like everyone else when they pick up guns and start shooting.  And then they FORCE their religion or agenda at traditional Catholic Schools and at Ground Zero.

The biggest problem is that the Muslims in this country who are here to build a better life and to just live their lives stay silent when outrageous things happen.  Stand up and condemn the actions of those who are ruining your reputation.  Take to the streets and have marches condemning the violence here and abroad.  Your silence keeps you lumped in with the radicals.  TLC is premiering a new show called “All-American Muslim.”  My hope for them, is that they do stand up and say no to the radical agenda that they have been swept up in.

Nancy Pelosi: California’s Nut Representative

The reason Nancy Pelosi is not longer relevant nor significant is because of her liberal histrionics.  In this particular instance, Pelosi lost all credibility when she stated that passing the “Protect Life Act” bill is akin to letting” women die on the floor.”  “Under this bill, when the Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor of health care providers … it’s just appalling,” Pelosi told reporters on Thursday. “I can’t even describe to you the logic of what they are doing today.”

Really Pelosi?!  Let’s take a gander at the bill and what it’s really about:

The bill, called the Protect Life Act, would ban the federal funding for abortions and bar women from using tax subsidies from the health care law to buy insurance that cover abortion – except in cases of rape, incest or the health of the mother. It would also ensure that health-care providers are protected if they believe that performing abortion procedures clashes with their personal beliefs.

This bill is not in any way, shape or form a move against Roe V. Wade.  This bill is not arguing the legality of abortions but whether taxpayers have to pay for them and whether a doctor can be force to perform them, if it goes against their Religious freedom.   I personally do not believe in abortions and politics mixed together.  As a woman, I have always believed that the decision to have an abortion is between the woman and her morality.  While it is a decision I would not make for myself, I have no judgement for those who do because it is not my business.  I despise the notion that every politician or judge has to go through a “litmus test” on how they feel about abortion.  Given that so many are male, it really doesn’t affect them.

With that being said, I do object to my taxes being used to pay for abortions.  I also don’t want my taxes being used to pay for erectile dysfunction medication.  Sexual activity is a choice and sometimes that choice comes with consequences because of poor planning before hand.  Therefore, poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.  It seems to me we would be better served by paying for birth control pills or the morning after pill.

But, engaging in that argument is lost when the politician goes to absolute extremes that are not even reasonable.  I think that is one of the reasons that Americans are just fed up with Obama, Pelosi and the rest of those left-field cronies.  Most Americans are moderates and live their lives with a great deal of common sense and get a little nauseous watching these games.  Heck, even at the time of my writing this, Rev. Al Sharpton is on MSNBC literally raising his voice because of this bill.  He is echoing Pelosi’s sentiment that this is somehow “devastating” to women.  I have no idea how or why and he certainly didn’t elaborate.  Both of these politicians are having some kind of disproportionate response to people not wanting tax dollars paying for abortions.  Nobody is denying abortions nor making them illegal.  When we see these antics, we are really turned off by them.  And that sentiment is true on both sides of the aisle.  There are plenty of antics and histrionics on the far right as well.

It would just be great if people told the truth without all the melodrama.  If you have been raped, are the victim of incest, or if the mother’s life is in danger, then yes, the taxpayers will help you out.  If you are one of these progressive women who uses abortions as birth control (and yes, I do know some that do) then you better start hitting up planned parenthood for some condoms, because we don’t want to pay for your inability to be responsible.

Romney & Huntsman: “Mormonistic” Distraction

I am not a Mormon but I am really annoyed to see all this nonsense about Romney and Huntsman’s religion. With regard to that pastor who said that Mormons are not true Christians, I have to say that if the members of LDS did not believe in Jesus Christ, why in the world would they be called The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. It was a ridiculous statement to make and all it has done is give him 15 minutes of fame (maybe fill his collection plates more) and turn the discussion away from the important issues.  Freedom of Religion in this country guarantees that both men can sit in whatever pew they wish.  If this election was about electing  a theocratic head of state, then we could all discuss the merits and idiosyncrasies of each person’s faith.  But, this isn’t that kind of election and we will never be that kind of country.  Supposedly we left that behind in the 1600’s.

This country is in the deep weeds right now.  We need leaders who are economically and fiscally sound to get us out of this mess.  Their religion or faith will not be what leads us back to economic prosperity.  It’s their vision and education that will stimulate small businesses and get the wheels going again.  We need someone who can stop spending and lower the tax burdens on small businesses.  In general matters of faith do not address this issues.  Jesus was not concerned which economic school of thought was better.  Jesus was all about how you interact with others and how to find God in your life.

From my perspective, all this hoopla over religions and the candidates seems to be very media driven.  I say that because according to the website All about Mormons:

In the United States the LDS Church is the 4th largest individual denomination with over 5.5 million members, a population about equal to the number of Muslims.

Given the numbers of Mormons living in the United States, just about all of us know someone who is and recognize that they are not in a cult.  Assuredly, their faith is very private and ordinarily not all out on display, but that makes them seemingly exclusive not nefarious.  And I believe that most Americans are not interested in a candidate’s faith, but rather how are we going to fix this mess.  So, this is just a media distraction to keep people worrying about issues that are not issues.  Perhaps, the mainstream is fearful that Romney can beat Obama, so they are trying a sneak attack and that pastor just fell into their hands.

We here in America can change this dialogue as well.  Put pressure on the mainstream media to shut up about religion and talk about clear concise plans on how we get things moving again.  I want to know what Romney’s plan is, in graphic detail.   I would be interested in Huntsman’s plan if he looked like he was going anywhere.  Sadly, his debate performance is lackluster and just because you speak a dialect of Chinese doesn’t make you an economics wizard.  Don’t give in to the distraction, we all need to stay the course.

Medical Marijuana: Alienate your base: break another promise

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a smoker of marijuana.  In fact, I am very allergic to marijuana (MJ) which I found out at a concert when I was 17 years old.  Whenever I get around someone smoking, I get horrible hay fever symptoms and my throat swells.  So, I have never had a dog in the fight regarding the decriminalization or legalization of MJ.  That is until the Obama administration let loose the Justice Department (DOJ) on those states that have voted and passed medical marijuana (MM).

I was certainly taken aback by this development because it is an absolute break of his promise to the MM community that he would be hand’s off.  I also found it rather ironic that Obama has gone after MM with much more vitriol that even conservative George Bush.  Once again for those people who keep reiterating that all politicians are the same, take a close look.  Obama promised hands off MM and has betrayed your confidence whereas Bush, the one who gets vilified was hands off.  The difference in the two comes down to States Rights versus Federal Rights.  Conservatives by nature believe very strongly in States Rights.  Democrats believe very strongly in Federal Rights.  If you love having the government in your business and taking your land, then you are a big supporter of Federal Rights.  And the consequences of that support means that the President can renege on promises and sic Federal Agencies on you if it supports their agenda.

And that had me thinking of the agenda for most of the afternoon.  I did quite a bit of reading and I tend to agree with the people who believe that the pharmaceutical  lobby is partly behind this.  MM competes with big pharma’s drugs used for cancer, glaucoma and Multiple Sclerosis to name a few.  The prescriptions for those illnesses can be astronomical compared to a few ounces of MM.  With the election season beginning to fire up and Obama casting glances at this war chest, he knows he will need some serious money.  Let’s face it, right now he is in a deep hole and the scandals of Solydra, Operation Gunrunner and Operation Fast & Furious are beginning to drown him.  Add to that the deepening recession and on-going unemployment he has a very serious uphill battle.  I read a blog the other day from a former Obama supporter who said that if the Republicans run a quesadilla she would vote for it over Obama.

I also happen to think that Obama is trying to woo back the coveted independent and moderate voters.  Nothing gets the crowd going better than showing you are hardcore on crime.  Also, if you play the “will someone think of the children” card you will win over some voters.  So, we are hearing that targeted dispensaries are within 1000 feet of schools.  Personally, I don’t know why there is that city ordinance if you are checking ID’s or stamps or cards before you make the sale.  But each community has the right to figure out what works for them and if it makes parents feels better than I’m all for it.  If this is a tactic for Obama to move towards center, it’s another miscalculation on his part.

74% of all Americans support MM.  When it comes to legalization of marijuana in general the statistics are much more conservative with only 31% support.  Essentially, Americans favor decriminalization but not legalization.  It is an important distinction. Most Americans have had loved ones who have suffered greatly from HIV, cancer or Multiple Sclerosis and everyone wants to see their loved ones have relief from pain and suffering.  Frankly, if MM can do that without all the unpleasant side effects of prescription drugs then we feel comfortable with that.  However, when you begin to speak about legalization, most Americans see that as a slippery slope which opens the door to the legalization of Meth, Crack, LSD etc.

Not only did Obama miscalculate how many people favor MM, but he is really showing a shocking hypocrisy.  Under his watch, 2,500 guns were walked over to the Mexican cartels with only 600 being accounted for.  It also caused the deaths of Agent Brian Terry and ICE Agent Jaime Zapata.  All of this without speaking to the Mexican Government.  So, on the one hand we gave arms to the enemies of the Mexican Government while on the other hand we are going to crack down and smash the STATE LEGAL MM dispensaries.  Which coincidentally also helps the enemies of the Mexican Governments.  If the STATE LEGAL dispensaries are closed, the I have no doubt the Cartels will be happy to step in and provide the product.

That quesadilla is really starting to look good!!

Potemkin, D.C.- The Government Facade

Each and everyday that I wake up and read the news, I realize how this entire administration is one big Potemkin village.  It’s a series of frauds perpetrated on the American people while being told that everything is just dandy.  Take for example the Solyndra fraud.  We KNOW without question, that the White House was informed that this was a very bad idea.  Whistleblowers have come forward and said they were aware it was not going to work as the building was being constructed.  Emails released today prove conclusively that California investor and Obama fundraiser Steve Westly informed Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett to keep the President from visiting Solyndra.  Westly wrote to Jarrett and had this to say, ““A number of us are concerned that the president is visiting Solyndra.  “Many of us believe the company’s cost structure will make it difficult for them to survive long-term. . . . I just want to help protect the president from anything that could result in negative or unfair press.”  That was in May 2010 well before the company collapsed.

Yet, as these emails were being released Monday morning, Monday afternoon Obama told George Stephanopolous in a live ABC news/Yahoo interview that he has no regrets supporting Solyndra or for visiting there.  “Now there are going to be some failures,” he said. “Hindsight is always 20/20,” the president added about being warned about Solyndra’s financial problems. “It went through the normal review process and people thought this was a good bet.”  That is just not true. ” There hasn’t been a factory or warehouse building built in Silicon Valley in well over 10 years,” Jeff Fredericks, managing partner at Colliers International in San Jose, said in an e-mail.  The asking rate for industrial properties in Silicon Valley is the fourth-most expensive in the U.S., according to Jack DePuy, Bay Area research manager at CB Richard Ellis in Foster City, California.  Now, what would a Potemkin business need to complete the facade?  I think an estimated cost of $733 million, including proceeds from a $535 million U.S. loan guarantee, 300,000 square feet, the equivalent of five football fields, robots that whistled Disney tunes, spa-like showers with liquid-crystal displays of the water temperature, and glass-walled conference rooms.

Next, Eric Holder staunchly denied having any knowledge of Operation Fast & Furious when the news broke today that he most certainly was informed of the mess as early as July 2010 through emails.  The response from the DOJ is that Holder gets many emails a week and sometimes doesn’t open them all.   Is it just me or does that sound like the equivalent of the “dog ate my homework” routine?!

Then we have President Obama who came out and said that we would have a limited role in Libya and that at no time would there be boots on the ground. He was emphatic that no troops would enter Libya at anytime.  As of September 12, 2011 we have troops on the ground.  Albeit there are only 4 of them working at the Embassy, but given the other fabrications of this administration, I’m wondering if this is a foot-in-the-door technique.  Time will tell.  Speaking of Libya, the most disingenuous behavior from this administration has to be that after it was liberated, the Arabs corralled all the African Blacks in makeshift jails out in the heat and the White House stayed SILENT.  Not a word was uttered as these people were herded by the hundreds into literal corrals out in the sun and heat.   Silence is also being maintained regarding the weapons that are being sent over the border into Somalia.

Now we have the former “green czar” Van Jones telling the students to take to the streets because of unemployment.  Van Jones is a self-labeled Communist.  Given that the vast majority of Potemkin Villages are associated with communist nations (Russia & China) perhaps he is the Village Idiot.  Organizing rabble-rousers in New York, Boston, Seattle and Los Angeles he wants to dismantle corporate America starting at Wall Street.  I see the plan clearly.  Jones wants October Revolution 2011.   Russia 1917, the October Revolution when the proletariats (workers) overthrew the Bolsheviks (the people who kept the workers working) and instituted starvation, corruption, distrust and political prisons.  Josef Stalin killed 20 million people under communism.  As Van Jones stands before the crowd of the uneducated, he wears his bright red tie. On a lighter note, having seen most of the people doing the protesting (the Great Unwashed), they don’t seem to be very capable nor very clear on what they are protesting.  Mostly, at this time, it looks a bit more like hang-out with Starbucks coffee than something of substance.

There are so many more examples of potemkin thinking with this administration.  I find these to be the most relevant at this time.  I have no illusion that other administrations, be it Republican or Democrat, has had its fair share of potemkin problems.  However, when you take a close look at this particular administration with our economy, our unemployment, our foreclosures and now the Red Revolution, I think we need to kick over the facade, show behind the curtain and get these people  gone.  Say what you want about there being no difference between candidates or they are all the same, but I was employed under Bush and under Clinton.  My house was making money under Bush, and I sure as heck didn’t see all the boarded up businesses and homes where hopes and dreams walked away.  Just some food for thought.
