Nancy Pelosi: California’s Nut Representative

The reason Nancy Pelosi is not longer relevant nor significant is because of her liberal histrionics.  In this particular instance, Pelosi lost all credibility when she stated that passing the “Protect Life Act” bill is akin to letting” women die on the floor.”  “Under this bill, when the Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor of health care providers … it’s just appalling,” Pelosi told reporters on Thursday. “I can’t even describe to you the logic of what they are doing today.”

Really Pelosi?!  Let’s take a gander at the bill and what it’s really about:

The bill, called the Protect Life Act, would ban the federal funding for abortions and bar women from using tax subsidies from the health care law to buy insurance that cover abortion – except in cases of rape, incest or the health of the mother. It would also ensure that health-care providers are protected if they believe that performing abortion procedures clashes with their personal beliefs.

This bill is not in any way, shape or form a move against Roe V. Wade.  This bill is not arguing the legality of abortions but whether taxpayers have to pay for them and whether a doctor can be force to perform them, if it goes against their Religious freedom.   I personally do not believe in abortions and politics mixed together.  As a woman, I have always believed that the decision to have an abortion is between the woman and her morality.  While it is a decision I would not make for myself, I have no judgement for those who do because it is not my business.  I despise the notion that every politician or judge has to go through a “litmus test” on how they feel about abortion.  Given that so many are male, it really doesn’t affect them.

With that being said, I do object to my taxes being used to pay for abortions.  I also don’t want my taxes being used to pay for erectile dysfunction medication.  Sexual activity is a choice and sometimes that choice comes with consequences because of poor planning before hand.  Therefore, poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.  It seems to me we would be better served by paying for birth control pills or the morning after pill.

But, engaging in that argument is lost when the politician goes to absolute extremes that are not even reasonable.  I think that is one of the reasons that Americans are just fed up with Obama, Pelosi and the rest of those left-field cronies.  Most Americans are moderates and live their lives with a great deal of common sense and get a little nauseous watching these games.  Heck, even at the time of my writing this, Rev. Al Sharpton is on MSNBC literally raising his voice because of this bill.  He is echoing Pelosi’s sentiment that this is somehow “devastating” to women.  I have no idea how or why and he certainly didn’t elaborate.  Both of these politicians are having some kind of disproportionate response to people not wanting tax dollars paying for abortions.  Nobody is denying abortions nor making them illegal.  When we see these antics, we are really turned off by them.  And that sentiment is true on both sides of the aisle.  There are plenty of antics and histrionics on the far right as well.

It would just be great if people told the truth without all the melodrama.  If you have been raped, are the victim of incest, or if the mother’s life is in danger, then yes, the taxpayers will help you out.  If you are one of these progressive women who uses abortions as birth control (and yes, I do know some that do) then you better start hitting up planned parenthood for some condoms, because we don’t want to pay for your inability to be responsible.
